Delta Spirit is simply off the spectrum of musical definition. The San Diego based band was formed in 2005, and although their debut album “Ode to Sunshine” is first published in 2007, the band proves that they are off to a good start.
The first song “Tomorrow Goes Away” evokes a Beatles-like sound circa 1963 while the second song “Trashcan” sounds like the B-side on The Rolling Stones debut album “Exile on Main Street.”
The lyrical content is so personal that it feels like reading front singer Matthew Vasquez’s diary. “If you’re feelin’ what I feel then C’mon, all ya soul searchin’ people C’mon!,” Vasquez sings. The album exudes experiences of drugs, love and most importantly, soul searching from start to finish.
If the band’s first album is this good, who knows what Delta Spirit has in store for us?
