Men’s volleyball coach Melody Parker was selected as the Western State Conference co-coach of the year Monday.
This was the third time in 12 years that Parker has received the award.
“I share this honor with my assistant Marcelo Duarte,” said Parker in a press release. “I give enormous credit to the team who made me look good. It is not one person who makes a successful program. The support of the administration, trainers and athletic managers have all had a crucial part in this years success.”
After Parker’s return to City College after a two year sabbatical, the team went from 2-15 last season to 11-6 this season.
This year’s success also showed when Tyson Rietz, the Vaqueros’ lead killer, and Eddie Aronchick made the all-WSC first team. Bryce Winsor and Mana Guerrerio made the second team all conference.
