Entering the U.S Billboard top 200 at #28, In Flames’ ninth studio album, “A Sense of Purpose,” is the strongest record yet for the group from Gothenburg, Sweden.
On the new album, In Flames has taken bits and pieces of the sounds of their previous records to make a great melodic death-metal album. The first single from the album, “The Mirror’s Truth,” is a fast paced song with great guitar riffs combined with a scream-your-lungs-out chorus, which works perfectly together.
Front man and lead singer Anders Fridén possesses a powerful voice that can handle both the aggressiveness on the song “Disconnected” as well as the soft parts on the ballad “The Chosen Pessimist.”
This is without a doubt the best death-metal record this year, so be prepared for some serious head-banging when listening to it.
In Flames is touring North America and will be in Los Angeles on May 21.
