Impressive outing for Vaquero track as it beats L.A Valley

The Vaqueros track team competed in its third WSC track meet Friday at L.A. Valley College.

The team won the meet, beating West Los Angeles by two points.

The top performers from the men’s events were Matt Crego, who won the men’s 400 meter dash; Juan Velasquez, winner of the discus throw; Julian Young, triple jump winner; and David Williford, winner of the pole vault. Velasquez also placed third in the hammer throw.

On the women’s side, Annelise Buck won the discus throw. Tshibingu Milocka won the women’s javelin throw as well as placing second in the discus throw and in the shot put.

In the men’s 100-yard dash, Andrew Westfall placed fifth overall with a time of 11.44 seconds. In the second heat, Magnus Moa placed forth overall.

David Meyer placed third in the men’s 1500-meter run, as well as coming in second in the 3000 meter.

Tommy Sheriff placed second in the hammer throw, and third in the discus throw.

The track team’s next meet will be the Bakersfield Relays, an invitational meet, on March 14 and 15 in Bakersfield.
