CD Review: LeAnn Rimes-“Family”

LeAnn Rimes will give you goose bumps, her voice is that good. Her new album “Family” was released Oct. 9, 2007 and has a soulful sound with thoughtful lyrics. Her voice is really strong and even when she shifts gears between soft and upbeat, her voice really resonates and is rich with feeling.

The catchiest song, “Nothin’ Better to Do” is upbeat and sure to be on the radio for weeks to come. One of her slower songs, “Pretty Things” strikes a cord because it is so relatable to people who think “things” will make them happy.

The overbearing country twang found in most country music is downplayed in Rimes’ album because of her poignant voice and personal lyrics. “Family” is an album to listen to in one sitting because she alternates slow songs and more empowering songs. This album will be an instant favorite, especially when enjoying that powerful voice.
