A 20-year-old former City College student died June 16 in a car accident on Highway 154. Casey Landi was driving east of Santa Ynez River Bridge when she collided with a car coming in the opposite direction. Both Landi and the driver of the other car, 60-year-old Jeannie Guzman, were killed upon impact. A 66-year-old male passenger in Guzman’s vehicle was also injured. The California Highway Patrol has yet to determine who was at fault. Landi had just finished her Emergency Medical Technician certification and was studying to become a nurse. Services were held at the Old Mission Santa Inez in Solvang, and a scholarship fund in her name has been established through Loper Funeral Chapel. They can be reached at 805-688-6684.
