The Men’s soccer team had two wins and one loss in the Allan Hancock Tournament in Santa Maria this weekend.
The Vaqueros started of the tournament with a 2-0 win against Taft College, who was runner up in last year’s state championship. “We were the better team and played well,” Head Coach John Sisterson said.
Game two ended with a 2-5 loss against Rio Hondo, after the Vaqs lost their 2-1 halftime lead.
The last game in the tournament against Allan Hancock ended with a convincing 4-0 win. “Apart from the second half against Rio Hondo we’ve held our own against some good team,” Sisterson said, “and on occasions looked like a good team ourselves.
Coach Sisterson is not a big fan of tournaments, due to the lack of time for the players to recover before games. The Vaqueros next game is on September 6 against Compton College at La Playa at 7 p.m.
