In reading the article concerning three of SBCC’s coaches, I am troubled by their respective demeanor at practice and at game time. How does a coach gain respect by yelling and hollaring at someone? I wonder how many students have decided to not participate in these programs because of this ridiculous and uncalled-for behavior. Having coached and taught from grades K-12, I never felt the need to act this way. Why do we as a society believe that coaches can act this way, but in a classroom, teachers would never be allowed to do so? Is it not time for the coaches to grow up and act like the teachers they often profess to be?
