Ashley and Anna Ottmann never found their rhythm at the Ojai Invitational tennis tournament this weekend, despite winning the Western State Conference doubles tournament last week.
The 107-year-old, seven-round tournament featured around 80 to 100 teams.
The sisters were eliminated in doubles play in round 16 (5-7, 6-4, 6-4) by a pair from Saddleback College.
“Ojai was a disappointment,” said head coach Louella Parsons-Wohglemuth. “They just didn’t play their best tennis.”
Parsons-Wohglemuth said the sisters served well, but lost the match because of repeated volleys that went into the net.
In singles play, Anna Ottmann lost in round 32 (6-3, 7-5), while Ashley Ottmann lost in round 16 (6-0, 6-0).
The sisters will have a chance to redeem themselves against the same team that beat them this week at the Southern California Regional Tournament.
