The Vaquero track and field athletes made the best of steep competition at Friday’s meet.
The men’s team took first and the women placed fourth in the five-way meet at Citrus College against Citrus, L.A. Valley and West L.A. colleges.
According to Head Coach Keith Kephart, “the competition was tough.”
Sprinters Ernie Pierce and Hunter Eastering placed second and third in the 100-meter dash. Scott Jackson won the high hurdles clocking in with a time of 15.97 seconds, and Scott Jeffers won the 400-meter intermediate hurdles in a time of 56.61 seconds.
It wasn’t just a good day for runners, as the field athletes held their own in the competition. Colin Dunbar placed second in the javelin throw.
Riley Castillon won the triple-jump competition with a jump of 40-2, Castillon also placed second in the high-jump clearing a height of 6-2.
Pole-Vaulter Jared Ray placed first in the event, soaring to clear a height of 13-6.
