It’s extremely hard to follow up an album like “Under the Cork Tree” (2005) where every track probably could have been released as a single, but Fall Out Boy’s new album, “Infinity On High,” is at least a fair attempt. It’s still the same old pop/punk/emo-rocking Fall Out Boy, but with a twist. The experimental factor of the Chicago-quartette is still very high. On the track “Hey Hallelujah,” the band rounds up a regular pop-song with Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” to the background of angry guitars. The song, “The Carpal Tunnel,” shows they also master going more hardcore. “This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race” will probably remain the big hit and even though this isn’t their best album, you’re inevitably left to wonder if Fall Out Boy can ever fail.
