City College’s Student Sustainability Coalition sponsored an awareness campaign Jan. 31, in collaboration with the nationwide effort, the Campus Climate Challenge, to combat the effects of global warming and excess energy use.
“There are many solutions that can decrease the emissions of greenhouse gases,” said Adam Green, Student Sustainability Coalition adviser and environmental studies professor.
These solutions include “locally produced food and supporting solar or wind-power,” Green said.
The Student Senate, in tandem with the nationwide effort, also sponsored activities, featuring informational booths and live music by the student band RootsWater. The event also featured a free screening of “An Inconvenient Truth,” followed by a question and answer session with a panel of experts.
