Students got a feel for what it takes to work in media-related jobs at Meet the Pros Career Exposition, Wednesday in the Business-Communication Center.

“It was insightful,” said graphic design major Shaun Brahne. “It’s a really cool career path and they gave a lot of advice.”

Representatives of the various media companies answered students’ questions about careers in the communication industry.

The expo featured representatives for television, print media, photography, public relations, graphic design, radio broadcasting and publishing.

The Santa Barbara News-Press and The Santa Barbara Independent had internships available.

“We put students in the direction to whatever their strength are,” said News-Press Arts and Entertainment Editor Keri Bradford.

The event concluded with a panel of speakers including former Executive Editor of the Santa Barbara News-Press Jerry Roberts, Barbara Brown from Barbara Brown Marketing and Design and Kathleen Milnes from the Entertainment Economy Institute Incorporated.
