With TV on the Radio’s recent move to a major label, Interscope Records, there was nail-biting, nervous anticipation of what would happen to our favorite post-modern rockers. “Return to Cookie Mountain” somehow managed to find TV on the Radio dipping their hands in to the main stream, but still proving that there are entirely new places to go and things to do in music. This album is not something you’ve heard before; it belongs to these three explorers, and no one else. There is no question that, in a musical culture full of amateurs and idiots, these guys will settle for nothing short of art. Their inability to settle for less makes them unstoppable and pays off again and again. Every track is delivered skillfully, while each is undeniably different and uncommon, and also refreshing. You may be confused at first, you may fall in love, you may be scared and you may just be strangely aroused, whatever it is, you will not be disappointed.
