Santa Barbara honored City College with the Recycler of the Year Award at a ceremony March 30.
“I’m very proud of this,” said Superintendent-President John Romo. He announced the receipt of the award at the Board of Trustees meeting on March 23.
Romo added that the award was a result of the hard work of the Student Sustainability Group at City College and the Facilities department.
Looking Good Santa Barbara awarded other local groups this year through the Second Annual Spirit of Service Program.
According to Santa Barbara City’s Web site, the program celebrates “individuals and entities for outstanding ongoing efforts to keep Santa Barbara looking good through their work to promote effective recycling practices and/or eliminate visual pollution such as graffiti and litter.”
