Sublime is the best summertime band with the best summertime single, “Doin’ Time.” The first line of the song is, “summertime and the livin’s easy.” Just the way summer should be. The album was released in July, just in time for summer. This is a great band from California who had finally made it all the way across the country to my hometown near Washington, D.C.
The whole album is great, but it’s this song that reminds me most of that summer. The smooth vocals float worries away on the cool summertime ocean breezes.
This song offers a melodic reggae backdrop beneath the vocal stylings of Bradley Nowell. “Doin’ Time” is a classic relaxing tune to enjoy on a long hot day, or anytime. Sublime will give you a laid-back summertime feeling no matter what season it is.
