CD Review-John Legend

John Legend teams up with Grammy winner Kayne West, executive producer, to give listeners a new sound of soul in his debut album “Get Lifted.” Legend is what many call a male version of Alicia Keys. He writes his own songs and plays the piano, but not with the same elegance as Keys. His songs have more hip-hop due to the musical styling of West. The best song on the album would have to be “I Can Change,” featuring Snoop Dogg. Snoop adds his smooth style to Legend’s silky voice producing something that hasn’t been heard before.
Kayne West appears on the track “Number One.” The upbeat song combining West’s humorous rhymes and Legend’s confrontational lyrics add to the drama of the song. Legend is currently planning a tour with the prodigy herself, Alicia Keys, this summer. Plan to see John Legend around for years to come.
