Widespread Panic is a Southern Rock jam band that has been around since the late 1980s. There sound is a combination of the Grateful Dead and the Allman Brothers Band. Built on a solid foundation of Southern Rock with an up to date spin that places them in the front line of current jam bands.
Their newest live album “Uber Cobra” is a mix of new tracks, but mostly old ones performed acoustically. “Uber Cobra” also includes a couple of cover songs.
This CD has everything! Widespread Panic has added a new acoustic dimension and I love it!
This album is different from anything that I have ever heard by these guys and is truly amazing. The opening song on “Uber Cobra”, “Walk On”, is a Neil Young cover and it sounds just as good as the original.
If you are down with good southern rock or just great sounding music, this CD is for you.
