CD Review “Robert Randolph”

In their debut album, Robert Randolph and the Family band add funk with soul to create a sound of music that is unclassified. Combining electric and acoustic guitars with the freestanding pedal steel guitar, Robert Randolf gives listeners a treat that will have them wanting more.
Three tracks on the album are instrumental but still just as satisfying sounding like a funky Carlos Santana. The high energy track “I Need More Love” gives the funky feel of Earth, Wind, and Fire with a hint of soul and a pinch of jazz. My favorite song would have to be “Going in the Right Direction”.
With bass beats sounding like they came straight from the 70’s and a Lenny Kravitz rock feel, Robert Randolph is definitely an artist to keep an eye on. This new artist deserves a listen and has the potential to be classified as one of the greatest guitar players out there.
