College officials concerned about the large number of emails that circulate among faculty and staff have launched an online message board.
Users can now post announcements about cars for sale, fundraisers for various groups, and daily cafeteria menus at www.sbcc.edu/messageboard/.
This new tool allows faculty and staff to stay in touch without clogging up the GroupWise email system, used for college business.
“It’s an exciting new tool,” said Sue Ehrlich, Vice President Human Resources. “It gives people more flexibility about what kind of things to send to each other.”
The online message board is only accessible on campus for the use of city college staff and faculty only.
When users visit the site, instructions are provided for logging in and establishing a personal password.
“It’s very user friendly,” Ehrlich said. “I haven’t had any complaints.”
