‘Unity in the Community’ event brings music, activities, and culture from around the world

May 9, 2023

The dull, overcast sky above couldn’t have contrasted more from the vibrant sounds and colors occurring below. As music ranging from high-tempo Mariachi bands to Middle Eastern folk rang through the cool air, students and staff gathered to celebrate the multicultural diversity at City College during the “Unity in the Community” festival on Thursday, May 4, at the West Campus lawn in Santa Barbara, California.

The event was entirely student-organized through the collaborative effort of City College’s Associated Student Government, The Ambassadors, and the Asian Student Union. Together, the student community worked to provide an array of diverse food, drinks, and activities.

“My goal is for students to enjoy culture together and celebrate everyone,” Evie Pazos Ramirez, commissioner of events for ASG, said.
