Hey guys, I’m Mac, and welcome to our update for the week of Sept. 25.
To start off, here’s Megan with the news.
This week, the Board of Trustees decided not to renew their lease with Kaplan International School. The school has been renting space since 2007 and has paid almost 4 million dollars to City College.
Also, Megan Roberts-King wrote a story about the housing crunch faced by City College students. Though enrollment is down 4 percent, we have not seen an increase in housing availability. Finding affordable housing is critical to many students. To find out more about these issues, check out the News section of The Channels!
And now to Landon with Sports.
Last Saturday the City College football team lost in the final seconds to East LA 21-14.
East LA scored the game winning touchdown with just 30 seconds left.
The loss puts the Vaqueros at 1-2 on the season with their next game tomorrow at West LA.
City College water polo won its home opener 14-0 over Santa Monica Wednesday night.
The Vaqueros were led by attacker Addison Seale who had five goals and three steals in the match.

Now here’s Megan with Opinion.
This week in Opinion, we published an editorial about the recent debates over potentially defunding Planned Parenthood.
House Republicans passed a bill to cut funding for the organization from the new federal budget.
Democrats have openly opposed this, leading to a possible government shutdown in the long run.
Those of us on the Ed Board feel that these threats are very concerning.
Many women, and men use the program’s services for STI testing, cancer screenings and other health services.
Also in opinion, we received a letter to the editor from the CEO of the Santa Barbara zoo.
He responded to the local column written by Sammy Keyes-Levine, which critiqued the living conditions of animals at the zoo.
And don’t forget to check out the rest of the columns we published today, as well as any other articles we discussed earlier in this video.
Have a stellar week and we will see you next time!
