Race to replace Romo begins

The Board of Trustees’ presidential screening committee met for the first time Sept. 21 to set the search schedule and the qualifications applicants must meet to be considered to replace Superintendent-President John Romo.

During the Sept. 21 public meeting, the committee drafted a brochure that will detail the requirements.

“We want to be sure that those who wish to be a part of this process are able to do so,” said Dr. Jim Walker, the committee’s consultant from Community College Search Services. “We don’t want to be accused of doing anything behind closed doors.”

The next meetings will be Friday Dec. 7 and Wednesday Jan. 23 before the committee starts interviewing potential candidates. The application review will begin Jan. 7. In-person interviews with finalists are set for Feb. 22-23.
