A year that has seen numerous milestones just got better for the Western State Conference North Division Champs.

This year’s Vaquero men’s baseball team took all three major awards given out by the conference as well as had 13 players make the All WSC team. Jon DeAlba won conference player of the year, an award he finished second in voting last season.

DeAlba hit .371 with 10 homeruns and 45 RBIs while playing a solid centerfield and maintaining the third spot in their high-octane offense.

Freshmen pitcher and Santa Barbara native Bryce Uhrig took the conference’s Pitcher of the Year award by setting a City College record with 13 season wins.

Anchoring a very solid rotation, Uhrig had a miniscule 1.88 ERA while striking out 86 batters in 96 innings.

Seventh year head coach Teddy Warrecker earned Coach-of-the-Year honors as he led his team to a school record 38 wins and the program’s first conference title in the last 35 years.

The Vaqueros will be the no. 2 seed in the Southern California Regional Playoffs and will host two games which will be this weekend on Friday and Saturday.

WSC First Team honors went to pitchers Bryce Uhrig, Freddy Vazquez, and closer Vinnie Agapito who set the City College record for saves this season.

Position players receiving awards were catcher Dave Klein, infielder Carlos Alonso, shortstop Ryan Morford, center fielder Jon DeAlba and designated hitter David Harris.

WSC Second team recipients from City College include first basemen Brian Snodgrass, pitchers Mark Marfoglia and Chris Dyer.
