8ball and MJG ride and hide in their new album, “Ridin’ High.” Their lyrics and beats are as predictable as their white T-shirts and fitted baseball caps. They’re just like every other gangster rap star that talks about their hoods, money and women. The difference is, other rappers have talent. They sound like they recorded in a garage with my 16-year-old cousin and roll with a cast of high school homeboys. Songs featuring Three 6 Mafia, Pimp C, Diddy and Juvenile, save this album from being a complete waste of time, and are the reason they even get one star, although I can’t imagine why they would ever agree to put their careers on the line by rapping with such amateurs. The best song on the album is “Cruzi’n,” featuring Three 6 Mafia. It is the only song in which either 8ball or MJG display some talent.
