City College’s Student Senate is hosting a spelling bee open to all students.
The event will take place outside Friendship Plaza on March 14 at noon.
There is no entry fee for the competition and prizes will be handed out to winners.
First place will receive a $50 gift certificate to the campus bookstore.
The runner up will be awarded a $25 gift certificate to Borders bookstore.
“We want to promote campus life,” said Eric Borlaug, president of the Student Senate. “It’s supposed to be for fun.”
In the spirit of fun, all those who enter will receive some form of coupon for a campus-related item.
Students will be tested on their ability to spell various professors’ names, among other things.
Registration for the event will begin at 11:00 a.m. the day of the event.
