The Lady Vaqueros once again placed first in a Western State Conference match, this time at the PPC Valencia course.

Like last week, College of the Canyons gave stiff competition taking second place.

“I have one of the strongest teams in the State,” said head coach Chuck Melendez. He added that it is important not to overestimate the team’s ability, saying that having too much confidence can bring “bad luck.”

Victoria Alimonda shot the lowest score with 74. Both Amber Clifford and Natalie Todd followed closely with 78s. The team score was 311, 3 shots below College of the Canyons.

“I feel confident and I am really excited about State,” said Todd, one of the star players at City College.
