The re-opening of the Sports Pavilion has yet again been postponed. Though it was originally set to re-open in August for the start of the new semester, the date is now pushed back to an undetermined date.
The reasons for the delay are continuous, unexpected alterations not a part of the original plan. Such adjustments are the grounds for the now 16 change orders in contrast to the eight in March.
The need to add conduit and wire in May for the EMS Controllers in the Sports Pavilion increased the contract sum by $10,716. The most recent modification as requested by the City College increased the contract sum by $94,913 and involved additional fireproofing of existing material in the Snack Bar Area on the second floor.
The total costs of this operation is now at $6,882,127.31 – about 9% over the original budget of $6,315,000 – just barely under the five to 10 percent the college should expect to go over with every project, said Joe Sullivan, vice president of Business Services, earlier this year.
Upon completion, faculty and students can expect a new and fully improved Sports Pavilion.
