The Board of Trustees approved a $2,500 settlement for air pollution violations stemming from asbestos exposure during last summer’s renovation of the Administration Building.
“The reason it was so low was because of the exemplary actions City College took once they did realize they had an asbestos problem,” said Mike Browghton, Air Pollution Control Board for Santa Barbara County compliance supervisor.
The agency could have fined the college $25,000 per day of exposure.
