City College English Professor Chella Courington will publish a book of poetry titled “Southern Girls Gone Wrong” which will be available this week.
“I think there is a real universal quality about this poetry,” she said. “What’s so wonderful about poetry is that it immediately gets to our heart. I have a real commitment of writing from my heart and from my body.”
Courington teaches a poetry introduction class and has taught at City College for three years.
She read other poetry Oct. 31 at the Stanton Greenberg Gallery on West Anapamu that was inspired by the current exhibit, “Mexico.”
The book’s forward describes the work as recalling “the Gothic strain that runs through Southern writing.”
“Southern Girls” is available at Foothillspublishing.com.
