The Facilities Committee has decided to consolidate the now-defunct print shop into the duplicating shop in the Administration building.
In order to do expland the duplicating shop, a wall will have to be torn down in the Adminstration building and at least one out of three enormous printers will have to be moved. The college is now looking for any buyers of these large printers.
“We sold most of the printers and are now trying to sell two more,” said Joe Sullivan, Vice President of business services. “We have a pending offer from College of the Canyons, but if that doesn’t work out we will most likely just auction them off.”
The actual cost of the move could come out to anywhere between $30,000 -$100,000. When the printing shop closed last year it was in an effort to save money on an obsolete process that cost over $100,000 a year to keep open. “We are not quite sure what we will do with the empty buildings at the moment, but hopefully decisions will be made in a month,” said Sullivan.
The move will take place over the summer and finalized plans will occur in the next three months.
