The City College’s women’s volleyball team easily beat Oxnard College Friday night, 3-0 (30-11, 30-10, 30-22) in their second league match of the season.
Kara Weirum tallied 15 kills and 3 aces, and setter Laura Marcus had 44 assists for the Vaqueros, who improved to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in league play.
The Vaqueros now look forward to a match with rival Moorpark College on Oct. 26 in Moorpark. Moorpark (6-2, 1-1) has won five straight conference titles and will be the favorite on Tuesday. The match is the beginning of a busy week for the Vaqueros, who also face Allan Hancock on Friday.
“There is a definite home court advantage,” Gover said of the matchup between the Vaqueros and Raiders. “We’re better on our home court and their better on theirs.”
