Porn king makes girls go wild

Parents may soon be receiving notification of their student’s alcohol related arrests becasue of concern over a student-run web site, which has undergone intense scrutiny from parents, college officials and the Sherrif’s Department in the last few weeks. In response to a media frenzy over pornographic content shot at local parties, message board members on the website had this to say: “Put my mug on the cover of Time magazine with a topless freshman under each arm, a lit cigarette hanging out of my mouth, and a beer clutched in my right hand, leaving my left hand free to give a big ‘fuck you’ to the world.” Drizunk.com, the brainchild of Lindeland and friend Micah Coy, features posted photographs of parties thrown on busy Del Playa Street, including girls lifting up their shirts, as well as links to pornographic websites. The pair has also organized parties and filmed scenes for use as fill in X-rated films. Recent discovery of the websites by concerned UCSB officials and both local and national press has sent drizunk.com to the heart of a new nationwide exposé concerning student sexual behaviors. Lindeland, the 20 year-old self-proclaimed cynic known as ‘El Presidente’ of the drizunk empire, has quite a reputation to uphold. But sitting on a quiet bench at City College, where he is a computer science major for now, Lindeland doesn’t seem phased. “People can have whatever opinion they want,” he said. “No matter what you do in life, people will find something wrong with it.” While Lindeland believes that he has to listen to criticism in order to learn from it, constant media exposure has begun to take its toll. But a firm belief in the future of the Isla Vista party scene and a desire to make himself heard have kept him partying and filming. “We just want to see a smile on everyone’s face,” he said. “We have a lot of big crowd shots on the website. It’s not just not just naked girls.” Lindeland, who previously worked for Collegefuckfest.com, the company that gave him his notoriety, said he just wants to throw a good party, a concept which is nothing new to Isla Vista, where resident college students have been raising parents’ and college officials’ blood pressure since the beginning of time. “This stuff has existed in I.V. forever,” said Lindeland, who came to Santa Barbara with Coy from the Bay area because of Isla Vista’s party scene. “It ís crazy here… its the best party town, because everyone is so laid back.” Porn companies like Collegefuckfest.com and Shane’s World come to Isla Vista to use shots of girls who are willing to flash the camera in exchange for a t-shirt from the companies with a slogan such as ‘mypussygotbeatatcollegefuckfest.com’. But while the companies come to town to shoot fill for hardcore porn films, drizunk.com posts relatively tame party scenes and intoxicated girls willing to take it off for free. And it’s not just the boys who want to see it. Girls frequently flock towards the camera when Lindeland and Coy arrive, asking to be on drizunk’s photo pages. Women also approach drizunk.com to throw parties for them. “Our latest wet t-shirt contest was held at a house owned by five girls,” said Lindeland, “and they organized the whole thing.” Michael Young, vice chancellor of student affairs at UCSB, told the Santa Barbara Newspress that he believed the situation was a “nationwide phenomenon.” But Lindeland believes that Isla Vista is more than that. The first time he came to party in I.V. he said, “I’m moving here,” and did. “This has been around forever,” he said. “If anything, parties are getting weaker in I.V. It’s not like people are dropping acid or doing coke. They are just drinking and having fun.” Lindeland and Coy both believe that the danger for women stems from the atmosphere of the party. “Sure, I’ve been to parties and seen crowds of guys molesting one girll-it’s a mob mentality,” he said. “We try to stay away from that, because we just want everybody to have a good time. That’s what makes us feel good, and the Newspress can say whatever they want.” But fear of danger hardly keeps away the hundreds of girls who come out on Friday and Saturday nights, looking for a good time and some free alcohol. “If I show my tits at a party, at least I won’t remember it the next day,” said one party-goer. While Isla Vista has long been known for its party atmosphere, the press has UCSB officials nervous. Just last week, the college issued a warning to City College students telling them to stay away from I.V. over Halloween weekend, with clear threats indicating the possibility of spending the night in county jail, a warning that has some students upset. President John Romo said Friday that he supported UCSB in warning off City College students from Isla Vista. “I’ve been concerned with the number of reports about increasingly questionable behavior in SBCC students,” he said. “We are re-evaluating what the college can and can not do.” Romo said that students were not always aware of the consequences of their actions, but that some of the actions staff could be taking include parental notification and inserts in the applications warning students about Isla Vista. “We also have a very good support staff at the Health and Wellness Center for students with alcohol problems,” he said. Chris Davidson, a business major, said that UCSB had no right telling City College what to do. “We’re all adults here, and I.V. is our town as much as UCSB’s. This is a party town, and that will never change. I.V. is the reason I came to school here,” he said.
