City College ace Rich McCaffrey picked up his first loss of the season Thursday when the Vaqueros fell 7-2 to El Camino.
El Camino came out with too much firepower for City College, as 15 hits by eight different players vaulted the Warriors to a win. Center fielder Ronnie Galosic had a huge game for the Warriors, going 4-4 with a home run and two RBIs.
“I thought Rich threw very well and didn’t get rewarded,” head coach Jeff Walker said. “If he pitches like that in conference, we’re going to win a lot of games.
The offense for City College was a different story, collecting just six hits total while leaving 10 men on base.
“Their pitcher threw well and El Camino is a good team,” Walker said. “They don’t make mistakes.”
The loss drops the Vaqueros to 6-8 on the season as they look ahead to beginning conference play this week at home. They play Moorpark at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Pershing Park.
