Teams score conference title

Head coach John Sisterson led both the men’s and women’s teams to a Western State Conference win. This year was the first time both the men’s and women’s program won the title. Sisterson was voted the WSC Coach of the Year for both teams.

MEN

After an intense game on Saturday against Golden West, the men’s soccer team is advancing to the State Final Four playoffs Friday and Sunday in Sacramento. The Vaquero’s scored two goals in overtime after a goal-less 90 minutes. Forward Duran Stanley has scored late in every play-off game. Stanley finished as the second highest scorer in his division after English teammate Jordan Tabor. Tabor was named athlete of the week by the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table on Nov. 21. The next game is the state semi-finals against Hartnell at 1 p.m. on Friday at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento.

WOMEN

Despite finishing first the team lost in the first round of the Southern California Regional playoffs during penalty kicks after a scoreless game. The Vaquero’s lost to last year’s state champions, San Bernardino Valley. Domenichelli was voted Most Valuable Player of the WSC North. Domenichelli set a school record with a total of 52 goals in her career at City College, beating her last years record of 25 by two goals.
