City College women’s volleyball team swept Bakersfield

The City College women’s volleyball team swept Bakersfield 25-11, 25-18, 25-19 in their home opener last Tuesday, improving their record to 10-4.

The Vaqs spent the first month of the season compiling a 9-4 record entirely on the road before their impressive sweep.

Jennifer Waddill, a 6’1″ sophomore middle blocker from San Marcos High, had 13 kills and three blocks while hitting an admirable .706.

The win was a team effort, as Allyson Porter had 11 kills and 19 digs, Antonia Antes had 10 kills and 10 digs, and Arianna Kamp tallied six kills with a .500 hitting percentage. Nicole Bergmann, another middle blocker had four kills and hit .800.

The lady Vaqueros followed up their impressive home showing, as they completed their second consecutive sweep Friday night against Citrus College in Glendora.

City College dominated all the three sets 25-13, 25-17, 25-14, and look to sustain their momentum against Questa at 7 p.m. Friday at the Sports Pavilion.
