The Vaqueros tennis team lost a devastating away match against undefeated Cypress 5-4 on Friday.

The Vaqs took the early lead after Nikolay Ivanov dominated 6-3, 6-3.

However, Cypress bounced back and won three straight games, and took the lead 3-1 after Regis Fastrez, Alex Zazove, and Cameron DeAragon were defeated.

The Vaqueros turned to Kyle Lewis in hopes that he would turn the game around.

Lewis won a nail bitter and beat his opponent 7-5, 7-5.

On the doubles side, Ivanov and Fastrez beat Cypress 8-3, but Cypress got its revenge after it defeated the Zazove and Scott tandem, 5-4.

The Vaqs will have its next game at 2 p.m. Tuesday March 9 against L.A. Pierce at City College.
