The City College Softball team lost two close games, 1-0 and 8-7, in a doubleheader against Cuesta on Thursday at Pershing Park.
The 1-0 loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Vaqueros in conference competition.
“It was a tough loss,” said Head Coach Paula Congleton. “The girls battled hard.”
Bryanna Monelo pitched a strong first game for the Vaqs, only allowing four hits, but the Vaqueros were unable to capitalize on offense.
The second game of the doubleheader headed to extra innings, as City College battled back from a seven-run deficit in the third inning. The Cuesta Cougars punched in a run after two walks in the eighth inning, to win the second game of the day.
The Vaqueros are now 9-13 in the Western States Conference, and 13-23 overall. City College heads to Ventura for a conference doubleheader tomorrow to close out the season.
