Nov. 5 – 11:10 a.m.
Campus Security immobilized a vehicle for misuse of a disabled placard. The individual received a $40 parking citation. Parking in a handicap spot usually costs $300, but the person was parked in a staff stall with a placard that didn’t belong to them. The placard was confiscated and destroyed by security.
Nov. 5 – 3:55 p.m.
Two students reported a student to security for yelling out racial slurs in front of Luria Library by the flagpoles. The suspect was lying on the lawn and making racial statements: “Why do these white youths want to be like black men? You came from good families, you’re privileged, why do you like a [n-word] stan?”
Security made contact with the suspect who admitted to making derogatory comments on a certain race but said that he wasn’t directing them towards anyone. He apologized and security escorted him to the bus stop. The individual has been referred to the dean for student discipline.
Nov. 7 – 7 a.m.
Security observed graffiti outside the Security Office on the Conex box, the fence at the Marine Diving Technologies building and on signs. The graffiti spelled “XOTC” and “2019.” Surveillance cameras were able to determine that the vandalism took place at 1 a.m. but couldn’t identify the suspect.
