Fight in basketball court and weed smokers on campus

9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26.

Police and security officers responded to a call at the Schott Center about a threatening student. The student had been told not to return to the Schott Center by police after an incident for threatening another student in class. Staff noticed that he had returned Saturday and called Campus Security and police, but when officers arrived the man was gone.

7:40 p.m. Tuesday, March 1.

A staff member called Campus Security reporting that students were using drugs in their car at Lot 1A. When officers arrived at the vehicle they could smell burnt marijuana according to the report. The students said that they were smoking tobacco out of a bong and showed officers some cigarette butts. They were referred for discipline.

10:40 a.m. Wednesday, March 2.

Campus Security smelled smoke and noticed a male student smoking marijuana in the Horticulture Garden on East Campus. According to the report the student told the officer he wasn’t smoking but after a moment he confessed and gave the officer a pipe that was filled with marijuana.

11:50 a.m. Wednesday, March 2.

Security officers were called about a fight in the Gymnasium. According to the report, when officers showed, the fight was over. Officers arrived and spoke with a student who said he was just attacked by another student after accidently bumping him on the head while going for a basketball. He said the attacker punched and head-butted him while yelling obscenities. He had some minor swelling and bruising. The suspect left before officers came, but has been identified and referred to the Dean for discipline.

11:55 a.m. Thursday, March 3.

A female student called for medical attention because her boyfriend wouldn’t wake up in Lot 1A. The school tried several times to wake him up but he was mostly unresponsive and paramedics were called. He was brought to Cottage Hospital.
