Grafitti, weed and unleashed dogs on campus

Sunday, Feb. 6, 10:15 a.m.

Security discovered numerous graffiti tags on various buildings around campus.

The places vandalized include the Business Center by the clock tower, the electrical bunker behind the Library, the East Campus kiosk, and the Marine Technologies Building.

Monday, Feb. 7, 2:15 a.m.

Security officers approached a group of people smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol by the small fountain on the West Campus Bluff.

According to the report they were cooperative with security. They were asked to pour out the alcohol and their marijuana was confiscated.

Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2 p.m.

Security received a report from a student that another student was harassing him in the Computer Lab in the Language Studies Department.

According to the report, the victim was at a computer when another student approached and began to slam into him with his chair while throwing paper and making verbally threatening statements.

Tuesday, Feb 8, 8 a.m.

Security received a report about a disruptive student in the Creativity and Imagination class at the Schott Center.

According to the report, a female student who was waitlisted became disruptive and refused to leave after she was denied a spot in the class.

She apparently stayed for duration of that day’s lesson and is expected to return for the next scheduled class. Security is planning to talk to her and resolve the situation.

Wednesday, Feb 9, 1:40 p.m.

Security officers noticed a pit bull off of its leash at the West Campus smoking bench. The dog was lying at the owner’s feet and when they asked him to put the leash on, he refused.

According to Erik Fricke, head of security, the man was intoxicated, had difficulty carrying on a conversation, and was involved in a similar situation last week. Because of all these reasons, security called the Santa Barbara Police Department who escorted the man off campus and told him to speak with the Dean before returning to school property.
