Incident report: Bacon brawl, skater slammed, parking ticket beef

Oct. 26

At 1:15 p.m., security was called to the cafeteria on a report of battery.

A marine technology student was eating his breakfast when another student stole a piece of bacon off his plate and took a bite. After he had put it back, the victim threw it back at him. The initiator of the incident then took a biscuit with gravy on it from the victim’s plate.

When the victim attempted to stop him, the biscuit fell on to the initiator. Upset he now had biscuit and gravy spilled on him, he poured a cup of hot coffee on top of the victim’s head.

Other students broke up the incident and the victim was treated for minor burns to the face and neck at the Health and Wellness Center.

Nov. 1

At 10:45 a.m., a student made a threatening remark towards a security officer in the Security Office.

After he received a parking citation, the student came to the Security Office to begin an appeal. The student claimed the citing officer told him he could do nothing about the fine.

The student told staff in the office that the officer was wrong and should be shot. He quickly apologized and said he meant the officer should be fired.

The citing officer clarified and said he meant he personally could do nothing about the ticket.

The student was warned he should not make threats towards anyone in the future.

Nov. 2

At 2:45 p.m., security responded to a call of an injured student.

A student was riding his skateboard down the bike and pedestrian path in front of the Humanities Building when he attempted to make a sharp turn to the left. He fell off his board and hit his head on a wood post, without a helmet on. The student was taken to the Health and Wellness Center, where an ambulance was called.

Nov. 4

At 12:25 p.m., security responded to a call of a student with a knife in the Administration Building.

Security responded to Administration Building–Room 211 and found the student with an eight-inch ceramic paring knife, which he was using to cut fruit in class.

Security informed the student he could not have a knife on him and warned him not to bring it to campus again.

At 3:35 p.m., security responded to a man smoking marijuana on the West Campus lawn.

The man, who was not a student, claimed he was here hanging out with his friends. Security confiscated his pipe, which was half the size of a pen.

Two security officers smashed the pipe and told the man to leave campus.
