Review: ‘Machete’ a whirlwind tale of blood, babes and a renegade

Robert Rodriguez‘ latest movie “Machete” immediately kicks off with heads rolling on the floor, blood splashing on the walls and naked women wielding knives.

The character Machete (Danny Trejo), an ex-federale, is hired to kill Senator McLaughlin (Robert De Niro), who’s doing everything he can to stop illegal immigration. Machete is betrayed, and in the next scene he’s wounded and wanted for the attempted murder of McLaughlin.

Now he has to find those who betrayed him. With some help from the gorgeous ICE agent Sartana (Jessica Alba) and the resistance fighter Luz (Michelle Rodriguez) he begins his search for vengeance.

The graphic violence in “Machete” may put off some viewers. But that’s the thing with this movie: It has a simple plot, and it’s bad in a good way.

The humor is stupid at times, but that makes it funny. A guy says that they need to hire a hit man, meanwhile the movie shows a commercial with a ridiculous tough guy, and a sign saying, “call 1-800-HITMAN.”

If you enjoy exaggerated sound effects and blood on the screen, this is the movie you want to see.
