CD Review – ‘Draw the Line’ by David Gray

David Gray’s characteristic fusion of catchy rhythms and haunting melodies reappears on his newest album “Draw the Line,” released Sept. 22.

Gray, well known for the singles “Babylon” and “Sail Away” from his 1999 album “White Ladder,” confirms his ability to make even the most poignant melodies tangible to the listener in “Draw the Line.” His lyrics remain accessible too, allowing an enjoyable sing-along during even the most abstract and personal pieces.

One of the most notable songs on the album is the fourth track, titled “Jackdaw.” Gray once again reveals the power in his typically gravel-like voice as he repeatedly belts, “I still want you, yeah/And I still want you, yeah.”

“Draw the Line” is worth the standard full-album purchase price, especially for those who are continuing Gray fans.
