CD Review- Whitney Houston: “I Look to You”

With her first album in seven years, 46-year-old Whitney Houston shows she hasn’t lost her pipes yet in her album, “I Look to You,” released Sept. 1.

Although her tone may seem a bit lower than back in the ’90s, Houston’s gospel vocals are as strong as ever.

In the album’s title song, “I Look to You,” Houston let’s her voice take lead with soft instrumental accompaniment, and also exercises her vocal range in “A Song For You.”

The album includes catchy, stuck-in-your-head tunes such as “Call You Tonight,” “For the Lovers” and the opening “Million Dollar Bill.” Each has its own repetitive song pegs that make them instantly familiar to the ear.

The album is a mixture of ’70s and ’90s style: soulful and upbeat. This is a true dance-while-you-drive compilation.
