CD Review- Pet Shop Boys “Yes”

Pet Shop Boys are celebrating 23 years in the music industry by releasing their 18th album “Yes.” The CD dropped March 23 in the UK, and is set for an April 21 release in the U.S.

The British electro-pop group reached success with songs like “West End Girls,” “It’s a Sin,” and “Go West.” The band has won four Grammy Awards over the years and the expectations for “Yes” were high.

The reality, however, does not meet those expectations. This album is boring, containing nothing new and fresh. It just sounds like same old Pet Shop Boys – except worse.

The lyrics are unintelligent and it feels like this is something everyone has already heard, especially in “The Way It Used to Be.”

The band sings, “I’m here, You’re there, Come closer, tonight I’m lonely, Come here with me, I want it the way it used to be”.

The only songs worth listening to are “Love Etc.” and “Did You See Me Coming”, but even those are nothing more than okay.
