CD Review- Changes of Atmosphere

Dela’s “Changes of Atmosphere” provides a life vest for anyone who has been drowning in the sewage called hip-hop these days. The album, dropped Jan. 23, is best described as a cross between A Tribe Called Quest and The Roots.

Dela is a student of the rap game. The album takes it back to the golden age of hip-hop, when lyricists had more to talk about than their bling and their dubs.

Sampling sound bites from old-school greats like , EPMD and Busta Rhymes, he doesn’t make a single boring track.

The album flows seamlessly with a smooth jazz style and rich melodies. With help from various artists like Talib Kweli, Dela elevates listeners to higher state of mind, painting the struggles of life and still preaching peace.
