CD Review- The Wild One

The Swedish band Sugarplum Fairy started more than 10 years ago playing songs by The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, and has now come out with their third album, “The Wild One,” released in Sept. 2008 on Universal Records.

They are still inspired by 60s rock and roll but have definitely created their own unique sound of indie rock/pop. Most songs have a raw sound but are sometimes combined with a softer melody, like “Bring Danger to Me,” which creates an interesting combination.

The lyrics of “You Can’t Kill Rock’n’Roll,” set the tough attitude of the album with the line “We don’t care if you have heard this before.” But there is also a more sensitive side dealing with love troubles as in “In Berlin,” and “Love’s Turning Into Boredom.”

The album contains 12 songs, which can all absolutely stand by themselves.
