Book scholarships for spring 2006

The Friends of the Luria Library and the Foundation for SBCC have announced that book scholarships for the spring 2006 semester are available to students in need.
New and returning students who demonstrate financial need may be awarded between $200 and $400 to pay for their books in the spring semester. M’Liss Garza, Professor/Librarian said, “It’s difficult for students to buy their book when the prices keep going up. I wish more scholarships would be given out. It’s such a great idea.”
The Friends group and the Foundation raised $4,000 through various social events and book sales. They are committed to giving away every penny of it.
Students who are interested in applying for the scholarship may do so at the information desk inside the Luria Library no later than Monday, October 31. For more details call the Luria Library at 965-0581, ext. 2634.
