Car drives 50 mph through parking lot, almost hits student

April 23- 3:30 p.m.

A student’s bike was stolen from the bike rack at the turn-around by the Business Center. The student said that the bike is a white mountain bike of the brand ‘Giant.’ The student was advised to make a report with the Santa Barbara Police Department.

April 23- 8:05 p.m.

A male student drove his Mercedes 50 mph through parking lot 1-B outside the La Playa Stadium entrance. A student called the security office and mentioned that if he had not jumped out of the way, the car would have hit him. A custodian and a security officer witnessed the car driving at high speed. Security officers got the parking permit number and were able to identify the driver. The student driver was referred to the dean of student discipline.

April 26- 5:25 p.m.

Six to eight people with skateboards went into the Schott Center and threw benches around to skate on. A maintenance worker caught the skaters and told them to leave. When security officers arrived, they got the license plate number and managed to identify the car’s owner. The owner is not a City College student.

April 28- 8:45 a.m.

A male individual was yelling loudly at La Playa Stadium. Security knows the individual from three separate incidents over the past three years. The man seemed agitated but was not dangerous. Security officers called the Santa Barbara Police Department and police officers escorted the man off campus. The man has been warned not to come back.

April 29- 3:10 p.m.

A security officer saw and stopped a student driving an electric cart on West Campus. The student saw the cart parked with the keys in the ignition and took the cart for a ride. The student was cooperative and said that they thought that it was okay if they took the cart. The student was not driving dangerously.

April 30- 1:15 p.m.

Two men were fighting in front of the Luria Library. A staff member saw the two men on the ground punching each other and called security. A third person went in and broke the men up. After being stopped, the men walked in opposite directions and when the security officers arrived, they had all left. The officers found no other witnesses.
